Imagine yourself as a gold miner in the 1800s. You’ve been cooped up in the mines all day with the same folks you’ve seen for the past few months, when word gets around that a show is coming to town, with songs, dancing and fancy ladies.
That same excitement is what the Julian Triangle Club aims to capture with its annual Melodrama, traditionally held several weekends in October.
Back for its 62nd year, the 2018 Julian Melodrama is sure to excite with its classic story lines: Will the evil, conniving villain succeed with his dastardly plot to cheat the local townspeople? Will he hurt the sweet heroine? Or will the strong and handsome hero arrive in time to save her and the town?
Every year, the Julian Triangle Club presents multiple performances, suitable for the whole family, filled with music, dance, comedy and drama. There will be no shortage of entertainment between the acts, and audience participation is encouraged — so long as it’s family friendly!
The Melodrama serves as the club’s primary fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting scholarships, community groups and other philanthropic efforts around town.
The Melodrama opens Oct. 12 and closes Oct. 27 with performances Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m., and Saturday matinees at 2 p.m. in Julian Town Hall, 2129 Main St. Ticket information is available at JulianMelodrama.com.
