Apple Days and Autumn Craze

— Megan Peralta

As summer winds down and the heat melts away, Julian welcomes some of the best harvest days of the year — especially when it comes to its famous apples. But it’s not just apples that bring this autumn craze. No, it’s the love of country air and the nostalgic feeling that comes from apple pie, cooler days and changing leaves.

The Apple Days season runs through August to October, and includes several fun events and activities. Julian is the top pick when it comes to picking, though. Whether you are picking — and eating — apples straight off the tree in one of the local orchards, berry-picking off the vine or just trying to pick which shop to visit first, there is something for everyone.

This is also a unique time of year where visitors can participate in scarecrow-building, family arts and crafts, an apple scavenger hunt and photo opportunities. You can even have an Apple Time Tea party! See updates at or call the Julian Chamber of Commerce office at 760-765-1857.

This year’s harvest celebration will include the Julian Autumn Jubilee, Oktoberfest

Don’t miss this special time of year, especially since Julian is one of the few Southern California destinations that experience all four seasons. Come marvel at the yellows, reds and oranges in the trees. Come savor the sweet tastes and smells throughout town. Most of all, come and immerse yourself in the old-fashioned feel of country holidays.

And enjoy an apple or two.
