Be a Time Traveler

No time machine is needed to get a glimpse at life in the 1800s, thanks to the performers of local theater troupe Doves and Desperados. Stop by Julian’s historic jail, at 1927 Fourth St., Sundays at 2 p.m. (weather permitting) for a show like no other!

Look Deep Into the Night Sky

Julian’s isolated location makes it a rare — and ideal — location for spectacular stargazing. Bring your telescope, visit a local observatory or just find a wide-open space to take in the wonders of the universe.

Find a New Perspective

Take advantage of Julian’s 4,000-plus feet of elevation — breathtaking vista points can be found throughout the area. Try the Inspiration Point Scenic Overlook, at 423 Inspiration Point Rd., for a stunning view of the mountains, desert and Salton Sea in the distance.

Channel Your Inner Anthropologist

Step inside the Julian Pioneer Museum, at 2811 Washington St., to see artifacts used by the town’s early residents and learn how this little mountain community came to be. Visit julianpioneermuseum.org.

Savor Sweet Confections

A trip to Julian isn’t complete without a taste of something sweet! Whether it’s homemade pie — nearly everyone has their own recipe — candy or pastries, there’s something to satisfy every sweet tooth!
